“Exorcism, Lobotomy and Prozac” – organizers of the online meeting will dispel all stereotypes about psychiatry and present a fascinating history of this field of medicine
The event scheduled for today is part of a series of meetings on mental health. The patron of the initiative is the Polish Association of Psychology Students and Graduates. The meeting, which will start at 7 pm on Facebook of the Independent Students’ Association of the University of Warsaw, is addressed not only to students of psychology, but also its enthusiasts. During the classes it will be possible to find out how in the past mental disorders were treated, how psychiatry functions nowadays, whether the brain is the home of the soul and what a psychiatrist’s daily work looks like. Contemporary psychiatry deals mainly with the possibilities of human development and a well-known expert in the field of diagnosing and treating mental disorders and diseases will talk about these perspectives.
The speaker at the meeting “exorcism, lobotomy and Prozac” is a well-known and respected in the medical community professor Dominika Dudek. For years she has been working at the Jagiellonian University in Krakow, where she is the head of the Department of Psychiatry and the Adult Psychiatry Clinic at the Medical College. Her areas of interest include depressive disorders, clinical psychiatry and bipolar disorder. She regularly publishes scientific articles in prestigious scientific journals and her research work has a great impact on the development of Polish psychiatry
